Whether you are in-house counsel, a solo practitioner, or part of a small or mid-size firm, you need to know the fundamental basics of copyright law to ensure you are representing your client in the most responsible and informed way. In this course, ASMP General Counsel & Head of National Content and Education Thomas Maddrey will cover the core principles of U.S. copyright law, beginning with the constitution basics and progressing through more advanced topics like termination rights and fair use.

If you have ever had a client come to you asking how they can protect their work, you need to know how useful and straightforward (and powerful) a copyright registration can be. And if your client has gotten a letter from someone accusing them of infringement, Thomas will go over what steps you should take and when.

Thomas has been on the forefront of copyright matters for many years, first as a creator, then as an IP attorney, expert witness in copyright matters, and author of numerous Supreme Court amicus briefs.
